In episode 6 we’re joined by special guest Julian Grounds.
Julian is a prominent Australian winemaker who joined Stonier Wines in 2024 as the Director of Viticulture and Winemaking. Originally from Albany in Western Australia, Julian grew up on a multi-generational farming property, giving him an early connection to agriculture.
He excelled academically, graduating as Dux in Oenology and Viticulture from Margaret River and receiving the prestigious Leeuwin Award for future leadership. Julian's career spans several renowned wine regions, including Burgundy, Margaret River, Central Otago, and Oregon. Before joining Stonier, he was the Chief Winemaker at Craggy Range in New Zealand, where he earned accolades like helping the winery achieve the top spot in the Real Review rankings.
He also has a background with Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley and McHenry Hohnen in Margaret River. Alongside his work at Stonier, Julian serves as a consultant winemaker for Craggy Range.
