SEASON 2 - Episode 5

snakes, $5 pizza and fresh socks

We had an exciting guest planned for Episode 5, but unfortunately, life happens—they couldn’t make it. What a bummer!

That said, it gave us the chance to dive into something that caught Pete’s attention: Ben Shewry’s thought-provoking Instagram post (17th November) about food critics and the Good Food Guide. It sparked a lively conversation, and we couldn’t wait to share our thoughts.

But that’s not all! We also ventured into the wild world of online reviews—those unqualified opinions on platforms like Google and TripAdvisor—and how they impact the hospitality industry.

From there, the discussion took a fun turn as we shared stories about boosting staff morale, whether it’s with $5 pizzas from one of the big chains or something as simple as a bag of snake lollies to help get through the chaos of the holiday season.

Tony had an important message for all the non-hospitality punters out there this silly season: Be nice. Seriously, it’s not hard. Hospitality workers are humans too, and just like you, they’d love to be home with their families. A little kindness goes a long way, especially during the festive frenzy.

So, grab a drink, settle in, and fall down the rabbit hole with us on this latest episode!
